Making the Most of Career Web Sites
There are hundreds of Web sites promising to help you find the job of your dreams. But how do you find a career Web site that will work for you? Look to the professionals.
CareerXroads 2004, The Directory to Job, Resume and Career Management Sites on the Web is one of the most comprehensive books about career Web sites. Written by recruitment industry leaders Gerry Crispin and Mark Mehler (MMC Group), this book features 500 site reviews as well as articles and resources for job hunters. Of course, if 500 sites seems too overwhelming, you can always start with the three sites that CareerXroads identified as being “the best of the best.” Those sites are: www.CareerBuilder.com, www.HotJobs.com and www.Monster.com
Career-oriented Web sites are not the only online source for locating positions, though. Sometimes a job hunter needs to go beyond what's obvious. There are many excellent national and international career Web sites, but sometimes it pays to look closer to home.
In particular, many local newspapers make their classifieds available online. This is a nice alternative because it will allow you to search by keywords rather than flipping through the pages. Newspaper Web sites are also a gold mine for locating job fairs in your area. Community organizations such as your local Chamber of Commerce may also have job listings on their Web sites. And don’t forget about State Employment Agencies – they have Web sites, too.
Associated Banc-Corp wishes you the best in your career search, and we encourage you to visit the Careers section of our Web site regularly to view new openings.

We can help you make the most of every dollar to plan for the future you want.
